19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his maiden title for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult period, managing just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with former coach Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and his other coach, he has steadily advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks his initial championship since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court since March of that year.

Victory also signifies he has won twenty-one championships at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to win a title is especially meaningful," commented ranked player the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.

The player's defensive approach and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had led observers to question if his skill to compete at the elite level was over.

But the athlete has made changes in the past month, striving to approach the net and compete positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to create a decider.

Moutet defended 4 initial break points in a tight final set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
